About Us

Palm Springs Tennis Courts is a locally owned and operated family business headquartered in Palm Desert, CA. The company was founded by Terry Hedges in 1981. Since its inception, Terry worked closely with his son to teach him everything about sport court installation and resurfacing.

The business continues to operate based on our model which places the highest value on the products and services provided to our clients, as well as our business relationships. We take great pride in having been the preferred pickleball and tennis court company serving the Coachella Valley, Southern California and Inland Empire for over 40 years.

Michael Hedges

General Contractor and Owner
Palm Springs Tennis Courts

Michael Hedges was born in Palm Springs, California. Michael began working with his dad in 2004 building and resurfacing tennis, pickleball and basketball courts.

Terry Hedges moved out to the Coachella Valley in the late seventies and worked at the downtown Palm Springs Las Casuelas as a bartender. Terry saved up his money and studied to get his General Contractors License prior to starting Palm Springs Tennis Courts in 1981.

1981

Palm Springs Tennis Courts grew and flourished and in 1991 Terry Hedges was the Tennis Court General Contractor for BNP Paribas Indian Wells, building the original stadium and all the surrounding practice courts. Terry Hedges gained notoriety in the Coachella Valley and became the go to contractor for tennis and basketball courts. Terry was published in LA Times and several other newspapers about the quality craftsmanship he delivered. Terry received the nickname “the sandman” for his special technique of mixing materials to get the perfect court finish for the pro tennis players.

Palm Springs Tennis Courts continues to be the premier sport court builder in the Coachella Valley and Southern California. Michael has grown the business year over year consistently since he became owner. Pickleball is what Michael can attribute to the success of the business. Michael and his dad built and resurfaced pickleball courts, but it really wasn’t until Michael became owner, he really focused more time on building and maintaining pickleball courts. Court conversions from tennis to pickleball are incredibly successful and he is an expert in pickleball courts.

Michael’s favorite thing about growing up and raising his children in the Coachella Valley is the wonderful community. Whether it’s his clients, his crew or his friends and family he is grateful for this wonderful and supportive community.

Palm Springs Tennis Courts are proud members of the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce and the American Sports Builders Association. The ASBA is a group in place to uphold standards of professional court builders and continue education ensuring all members are knowledgeable on the latest developments in court building and resurfacing. The ASBA works in partnership with the United States Tennis Association and USA Pickleball upholding the same standards as the regulation courts the pros play on. Michael’s wife, Stacie, volunteers on the marketing committee for the ASBA in creating awareness in the public especially for pickleball in why you should always hire a sport court professional contractor to build or resurface your pickleball courts, tennis courts, or basketball courts.

Michael Hedges (Terry’s son) is the General Contractor and owner of Palm Springs Tennis Courts now and continues to build upon his dads legacy. He built strong relationships with the previous clients and vendors and created new relationships. Michael’s foreman, Arnulfo, has worked for over thirty years for the company and has been through the two generations of ownership.
